Richard Hartnell's contact juggling performance showcases the art form's ethereal fluidity. Currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area, this particular sphere charmer has shocked and amazed audiences on stages and streets, and in clubs and parlors between Seattle and San Francisco, Bourbon Street and Black Rock City.
Originating in Bellingham, WA and influenced by the East Bay spinning community, Richard Hartnell claims an impressive repertoire of fluid manipulations and rock-solid isolations. His street resume includes destinations from Fisherman's Wharf to Bourbon Street; stage appearances have been as part of the Dream Science Circus, Hellzapoppin, and the New Old Time Chautauqua. He has been headhunted by promoters in all four corners of the United States.
Other performers have described Richard's style of contact juggling as mystical, hypnotic, precocious, and inspiring. To Richard, art is a form of activism which he uses to inspire viewers to new heights of physical awareness. He juggles compulsively, rarely goes anywhere without at least one spherical object, and secretly hopes that he never runs out of new tricks to learn.
